Today, I'm unveiling a new feature on the blog. Submit a short sample for critique will be open to all new/young writers. There is already a spot for more established indie artists to post to the blog, so this area will focus on those just getting starting on their journey.
The basics---
Are you an aspiring literary writer? If so, you can submit a short sample of your fiction and I will critique it. My writing mentor, Ed did this for me when I was 21. It led to a life-friendship and he helped give me the courage to become a writer.
He believed literature to be a great tapestry, that his and my voices were only two of the untold number of voices throughout the ages and that an important function of any artist was to help grow that tapestry, to encourage, foster and mentor young writers so as to continue that tradition after our inevitable deaths.
So, I extend this offer and continue the tradition. Young literary writers, bring your work. Submit a story as an attachment in an email (hit the email button in the social media icons section at top of the page). Or, simply paste the story into the email. If you already have a blog or post to some other site, tweet the link or get it to me how you will.
I hope to read your work and leave you with this quote from my mentor about the price of NOT writing.
Every voice that knows must speak or tyranny wins.-- Edgardo Vega Yunque (May 20, 1936- August 26, 2008)
