THE FINAL CHAPTER
PART 8
".. Hannah?" I say as I stare at her with wide eyes.
"Hello Dexter."
I blink a few times, wondering if this is real. "How did you..? What..?"
"I'm sorry, but we really have no time to talk yet, we gotta move" She says as she helps me out of the car.
"Where are we going?"
"You'll see. Come on." She helps me to the car, after we both get in she gives me a towel. "Press this against your wound, I'll fix it as soon as we get out of here."
Confused I look outside as we drive away from the wreckage, seeing a dozen of eye witnesses. I wonder how Hannah is going to pull it off the get me out of here. "Hannah, can you please explain?"
She sighs. "I saw you in the newspaper. It was saying that you weren't dead. I didn't even think about it and went back to Miami. When I got here I heard you got arrested. I had to do something.."
I sit in silence next to her, trying to process everything. My thoughts are a mess. "Where did you leave Harrison?"
"I left her with a friend of mine. He's safe, don't worry." She makes a few turns and eventually we reach a marina. Not far from here I hear sirens.
"They're..."
"I know. We have to be fast." She replies and she stops the car. "Get out, we're here."
I do as she says and follow her to a freighter. We get on and a man is already waiting on us. He escorts us to a shipping container, opens it and lets us in.
"See you in a few hours" he says.
Hannah slips him some money whispering "thank you". He closes the doors and Hannah turns around and hugs me. I hug her back, and we stand there for about 2 minutes before she lets me go.
She slaps me.
I look at her confused.
"How could you do this? To me? To Harrison? Do you have any idea how hard it has been?"
I look at the floor, never have I felt so bad about anything. "I'm sorry. If it helps, it's been like hell for me too. I just.. I didn't want to drag the both of you down in my destructive path. You didn't deserve that."
"You are dumb, did you know that? Any problem you would have faced.. We could deal with together. You don't have to be alone." She says with tears in her eyes.
"I feel.. Such regret.."
Hannah looks at me, hesitating what to do or say. I walk closer and hug her again.
"I am so sorry.." I feel a knot in my chest which won't go away.
"Come on, let me take a look at your wound." We sit down and she takes a med-kit out of her pack. She starts to clean my face and the cut on my head.
In a few quick minutes the wound is clean, and she puts a bandage on it. She gives me a quick kiss and smiles.
"There, you're all better now."
I smile back and sit with my back against the container. She sits next to me, puts her head on my shoulder and we sit quietly. We're both slowly drifting to sleep. A few hours later I hear a noise and light enters the container. The same man who brought us in walks in and smiles.
"Welcome to Argentina!"
Hannah and I get up and walk out of the container holding each other's hands. The sun smiles upon us as we walk off the ship. A car is waiting for us, a door opens and there is Harrison.
My heart stops. He looks at me smiling, he must have grown about 2 feet.
I stand still and Hannah looks at me.
"It's okay, Dex."
She pulls me forward and I follow and Harrison runs toward me. As he reaches me I lift him up and hug him as tight as I can. For the first time in my life I feel something that seems to be a tear in my eye.
And I know that everything is going to okay. Hannah joins the hug and we stand there for what seems to be ages.I look at the both of them.
"Welcome to Argentina, indeed."
