Stats may not tell the entire story and in this case that's true, but also, stats don't lie - and Manziel's performance can be aptly summed up with his stat line - a brutal 10-18 for 80 meager yards and two picks. A third pick was called back by penalty. The problem with a stats only look is it's impossible to see in the numbers just how bad Manziel was yesterday. He looked over his head in an NFL game, unable to read the D and make plays. He simply looked like he didn't belong - like Tebow at QB in that infamous playoff game in New England.
What can explain why Manziel looked so unprepared? Surely, some of it must be bad coaching. He didn't look ready. Some of it must be on his own game film prep - he obviously didn't do enough homework.
But, deeper than all that - he didn't look like an NFL player. He looked like a college QB over his head at the next level. So, big question - can he turn it around?
I don't have that answer - but one thing is for sure - this kid will have to stop running around town acting like a star and watch some game film if he wants to actually BE a star.
