The New England Patriots were blown out on Monday Night in epic fashion by the Kansas City Chiefs in Arrowhead Stadium last night, 41-14.
I've been saying since the first game that the offensive line woes would catch up to the team as soon as they played a decent front seven and it happened last night. However, I had been under the impression the defensive unit had improved this year - and last night's game showed a regression to the lack of tacking/no pass rush difficulties of the last few years when the unit ranked towards the bottom of the NFL.
A friend asked on Facebook before the game what I thought of Brady's chances (this person has him on a fantasy squad) and I called it - with the disarray on the offensive line - Brady's chances as well as the Patriots in general are almost zero. Can't win when you're subbing in offensive linemen like other teams do skill position players. That said, Brady played one of his worst games as a pro and looks very unhappy to be playing for this team right now.
Nobody can say how much the Logan Mankins trade changed the Xs and Os of the offensive line. However, it can't be denied it caused a massive chemistry problem in the locker room that I do not believe can be fixed.
The biggest issue for the Patriots is - The GM and Ownership trading away players to save money. Can you name another marquee franchise that comes in UNDER cap consistently? No? The New England Patriots DID last year. Enough said.
