While not a stock I talk about often, Coke has been a core staple of the portfolio for many years. Recently, the stock has become range bound and is struggling to stay above 40. What does this mean and is Coke still a company to keep in a core portfolio?
There are changes coming to how people consume - with a focus towards healthier beverages. However, this trend is in part of the world - the developed nations. In the nations that are still in a growth phase, Coke will still be a popular option for many years to come. This will put a cap on growth and limit the returns of this stock. I wouldn't be a buyer at 41 and would wait for a lower price.
Short term rating = HOLD
Long term rating = BUY
