It's a packed indie author event weekend in Vegas - here is a sampling of what I'll be attending. The second event I will attend is a group author event/book signing at Barnes and Noble Henderson. Local authors MacArthur Johnson, James Kelly, Nancy Nelson, and Stephen Murray will be signing as well as an author we've already met on this blog - SH Montgomery. This event is also from 1-3 in the afternoon so I hope to meet as many new authors as possible.
If you are in #Vegas - get on over to Books or Books on Sunset and Pecos or visit Barnes and Noble Henderson store to support indie artists. WEBSITE CONSTRUCTIONGood Afternoon from Vegas,
I'm in the middle of updating the website, so pardon the construction. Some links have been removed and pages combined - soon there will be a separate page for all the artists I've featured on the website, with links on how to find and purchase art from the artists directly. There will be a simple breakdown of 'Local Authors' and 'Outside Vegas' for now and I'll add categories/regions as needed. I'll debut a new feature soon - called the book of the month club. I've met a lot of amazing authors and think it would be great if I shared those books with the world. Each month I'll select an author and give a paperback copy to one of my readers. I'll post when I have the exact details and how I'll select the first author. Thanks for visiting my website. From Las Vegas, Stephen John Moran Come on down to Books or Books on Sunset and Pecos to meet local author Robert Winter and check out his book about FEMA disaster stories - DUST IN THE WIND. The great Guinness toast for equal marriage. Love wins the vote and the day and as always - hate loses in the end. Congrats to Ireland for being the first to pass equal marriage by force of popular vote - the people have spoken. Marriage equality rules in Ireland!!
In a recent interview with The Daily Beast, actor Morgan Freeman came out in favor of legalizing weed. He makes several points in the interview about making pot legal across the board, but this quote says it best. “Marijuana has many useful uses,” he says. “I have fibromyalgia pain in this arm, and the only thing that offers any relief is marijuana. They’re talking about kids who have grand mal seizures, and they’ve discovered that marijuana eases that down to where these children can have a life. That right there, to me, says, ‘Legalize it across the board!’” Slowly, as all the old myths and lies about marijuana get pushed to the side and what is left are the undeniable benefits of the drug in a medicinal setting, more people will get on board with full legalization.
The bottom line is this - there can be no doubt of weed being safer in every possible way than alcohol, yet one is legal and one is not. There is no rational argument for this. Simply - legalize marijuana across the board - in every state. It's not a gateway drug. Alcohol is. It doesn't cause people to crash their cars or beat their wives. No, that's alcohol. Legalize it. As with the few left opposing equal marriage - the only arguments I hear are based in 'morality' and have no basis in reason. For the rest of us with brains - let's do what is right.
