My new short story collection has two main locations - Warwick, RI (stories from my time waiting tables at Chili's) - and Millville, Ma.

The stories of restaurant life told in this volume are just a few of the many stories I have from my two decades of being a waiter. But, the Scott Holden stories in this volume certainly give a small window into what it's like to be a server in America.

The story then switches locations to Millville, Ma. One of the settings is the public library - which ironically wouldn't let me read my first published short story there for reasons of 'content'. (shocking I know).

The central theme in the book is of an alienated man that seeks revenge upon society. We have a lot of people in our midst that fit this description - and it's one of the reasons we have so much violence and bloodshed in our streets.

Violence in America has many forms - from the horrific daily scourge of domestic murders to the unfathomable acts of terrorism we see on the television screens.

Both types of violence are part of the fabric of these stories. The title - The Terrorist of Providence Street is meant to imply a simple statement -

There is no one type of person or race or set of conditions that lead someone to become a terrorist. It could be the person next door, that you knew all your life. The ones that commit these crimes come from big cities...and small towns.

Later today I'll post a fiction sample from the new collection. I hope you enjoy it.

For those from Millville, MA or Warwick, RI - be sure to picked up a signed copy.

From Las Vegas,
