Today is going to be an all-writing version of the morning news.
National Novel Writing Month is underway (otherwise known as NaNoWriMo) - and my effort to re-envision Preface to a Suicide is going well. Through two days, I'm at 11k words. Yes, I've hit a bit of a wall (tired, not writer's block) - but I have made notes that I hope will get me through the next few days.
The biggest issue going into this effort was squaring the 'old' facts of the version of Preface I wrote in my twenties with the 'new' facts of my fictional world as published in the ELLA book. Over the last decade, I've changed some key details/locations - enough so that many of the actual details from the old version of Preface no longer fit the story.
That's why I chose to re-envision this novel and not 're-write' it. There are simply too many changes to be made, it can't just be an edit. For those that read one of the Preface drafts from many years ago, you won't recognize much in this new novel - but I do hope you'll see the spirit of the book has remained even if many details have changed.
Today I hope to get through several chapters and re-introduce key characters. We might even get to meet George, but I'm not sure yet.
