The stories of restaurant life told in this volume are just a few of the many stories I have from my two decades of being a waiter. But, the Scott Holden stories in this volume certainly give a small window into what it's like to be a server in America.
The story then switches locations to Millville, Ma. One of the settings is the public library - which ironically wouldn't let me read my first published short story there for reasons of 'content'. (shocking I know).
The central theme in the book is of an alienated man that seeks revenge upon society. We have a lot of people in our midst that fit this description - and it's one of the reasons we have so much violence and bloodshed in our streets.
Violence in America has many forms - from the horrific daily scourge of domestic murders to the unfathomable acts of terrorism we see on the television screens.
Both types of violence are part of the fabric of these stories. The title - The Terrorist of Providence Street is meant to imply a simple statement -
There is no one type of person or race or set of conditions that lead someone to become a terrorist. It could be the person next door, that you knew all your life. The ones that commit these crimes come from big cities...and small towns.
Later today I'll post a fiction sample from the new collection. I hope you enjoy it.
For those from Millville, MA or Warwick, RI - be sure to picked up a signed copy.

Within a few hours my second publication will be live at Amazon. The Terrorist of Providence Street seemed like it would never see print. There were endless delays and roadblocks in the path to publication.
I kept pushing and with the help of my dedicated team - Sean Hoade, Jette Harris, and Jessica Wynn - this book will finally become a reality. I can't thank the team enough - and can only hope that when they see this paperback it will bring them satisfaction. It was a battle for sure.
The story of this collection goes back years. The earliest story of the collection was written over fourteen years ago and it took great effort to polish that tattered draft into a finished story. A few of the stories were published in literary journals gone defunct long ago. Those days seem to fade and all that remains are the stories.
Many more stories will follow this collection - and more battles to fight bringing the rest of the stories to publication.
I hope everyone that follows this website enjoys this book. It truly took a lot to bring this slim volume to print.
To the people that inspired this volume - co-workers at Chili's Warwick and the whisper and glints of memory from Millville, Massachusetts - may you find something that makes you smile in the pages of this book.
I'll write more about this volume when it goes live. For now - I can breathe a sigh of relief that it's done.

THE RETURN OF A WRITER'S DIARY
Today - with the launch of MoranPress.com - I announce the return of 'A Writer's Diary' - the original format of this website. As my publishing company grew to include other writers - I had to focus on the group more than my own writing and posts. Now that there is a website dedicated to Moran Publishing authors and publications - my author website can return to its roots.
Once again I'll post my thoughts about current events, bits of fiction, and anything else that strikes me as important in Las Vegas.
To that end - I'll start with book news for my upcoming collection of short stories, THE TERRORIST OF PROVIDENCE STREET. The paperback version is almost ready and you can pre-order a special edition now by clicking the cover photo in this post. The price is $20 (which includes shipping to US address. Extra charges for international orders).
This collection of stories form a single story arc and reads almost like a novella. I promise these stories will shock and keep you thinking long after you finish reading. Readers that have followed my fiction will recognize the characters and locations of the stories. Warwick, RI and Millville, Ma are the two most prominent settings in the book. My time as a waiter in Warwick and growing up in Millville shaped the creation of these stories. I hope you enjoy the trip down memory lane - especially for those readers connected with those towns and cities. I believe you find many things you recognize in the pages. |
I thank all my readers and hope you enjoy the new release.
From Las Vegas,
Stephen Moran

INTRODUCING
L. M. BRYSKI
I'll simply state - I was blown away by the manuscript of L. M. Bryski's first novel, The BOOK OF BIRDS, and I knew immediately I *needed* to publish this book. The Book of Birds is a dark coming of age tale that I can't wait to share with readers. But, I won't blather on about this book - here are some details about the author and her book - provided *by* the author. In her own words:
L. M. Bryski
L. M. (Lisa) Bryski, MD, is Canadian, convenient since her home is somewhere in Canada. She could reside most anywhere though, as she spends considerable time living in her own head. Lisa is a real doctor, but doesn’t play one on TV. She gets to wear a lab coat at work, and likes to fix emergencies, not cause them.
Lisa has many proclivities, including a love of pancakes and all things breakfast. She enjoys reading and writing, and is very proud of her pronunciation of difficult words. Her humour is horrible, her punctuation abysmal, but she always finds a way to end her sentences with a period.
The Book of Birds is Lisa’s first novel. The narrative is a 1940s coming of age story inspired by many childhood visits to Saskatchewan, a love of ornithology and the movie, ‘At the Circus’. Somehow in Lisa’s oddball mind, it all came together in the form of a book. Lisa’s novel tells of Elly and her sister Dot, newly orphaned girls who move to a small prairie town to live with their grandparents. Elly’s struggles to fit in lead both girls into danger. The consequences are unfortunate, and hopefully well worth the money to read about.
Lisa’s award shelf is currently empty. She hopes to fill it someday with bright shiny trophies from the literary world. Barring that, maybe a few more books would be nice.
You can find L. M. Bryski on Twitter as @LMBryski. She also has a website, www.lmbryski.com, and can be reached by email, [email protected]. Enquiries about the author may also be made through Moran Publishing.
